Some of our biggest praises about working with Holden were his communication and the overall ease of the booking process. The entire group was professional, responsive, and accessible at every turn. Despite having a few organizational hiccups on our end, they showed up early and prepared to play as soon as needed. Many of our guys specifically noted how interactive and personable they were both on and off stage. Max Hawkins, a senior majoring in computer engineering and a fan of the band, said he likes the band because they’re high energy.
“Five Card Draw has an energy about them,” Hawkins said. “No matter how many people are in the crowd, they put on an expressive show.”
This energy is not only in the way they play but also in the way they interact with the crowd, such as [Dylan] performing a backbend while playing on stage or [Holden] signing set lists for fans.
While Tuscaloosa has a wide variety of bands, Five Card Draw has undeniable appeal for their energy and their musicianship, but especially their tie to the University. Their Capstone tradition makes them one of the more memorable bands in town.

The Red Shed has hosted many different bands over the years. We strive to provide live music from talented groups from all over Tuscaloosa, and Five Card Draw has consistently been one of our first go-to bands every semester for the last several years. When performing at our venue, they have always made our job easy by coming prepared for their show and keeping the energy up with the crowd. By always being on time for soundcheck, keeping an open line of communication and properly promoting their shows on our stage, this group of artists has made working with them a genuine pleasure. Although the band members may have changed over the years, their level of professionalism has always been consistent, making every show seamless. In an atmosphere in which we work with many college bands, the longevity and continued success of 5CD have become a welcome part of TRS.

Hiring Five Card Draw to perform was the best decision I could have made when planning our private event. After reaching out with interest, both Holden and Dylan were very communicative during and after the booking process about everything from setup and price; to a band member’s medical emergency the day before the show, assuring me that the show would still go on. They were very open throughout the whole process, which I cannot express enough appreciation for.
The group’s flexibility in making preparation as painless as possible, was the most valuable aspect of our interaction with them. They promised an energetic and interactive performance, and not only delivered, but exceeded our expectations at Theta Tau. Many of our members came with various expectations, some high and some low, but all left with nothing but applause for the band's music choice, energy, and personability, with many expressing interest in going out to future shows.
